5 Ways You Can Help Small Businesses During COVID-19 for FREE

What a year 2020 has been – talk about uncharted waters. First and foremost, we hope that you are staying safe and that your loved ones are weathering this storm without issue. At this point, we all have the phrases, “sing the Happy Birthday song twice,” “practice social distancing,” and “stay at home” seared into our brains…rightly so. The impact of COVID-19 is going to be long-lasting in many different facets of our everyday lives and just like other small businesses around the world, we are anxious about the new normal. That being said, we are thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve our customers and hope we can pass along some content that would be helpful for our organization and others. Here are some ways to help your favorite small businesses stay afloat now, and in the months to come.

1. Leave a product review online

We know – this is asked of you by any company with an online presence over and over again. Trust us, we feel your pain! But, it REALLY DOES HELP. If the small business has a website and you have tried ANY of their products, please leave a product review. This will help build their SEO (Search Engine Optimization) presence online and the more reviews they receive, the more likely their products are to appear in online searches by new customers.

2. Leave a Google review

If Google is your primary search engine, leaving a company review (separate from a product review) is also extremely beneficial. This allows businesses to track customer service, connect with customers, and will help the website appear higher in online search rankings. Reviews can be as simple as a star rating or a more detailed experience.

Note: If your favorite business(es) only have a presence on social media - such as Facebook - go ahead and leave a review on those platforms.

3. Share a picture with the product

Already have the product in your home? Snap a picture and share on social media – tagging the business in the pic, of course! And, yes, selfies are allowed. Snap away! Or, if you have multiple items from small businesses ready for their photo op, take one picture and list the retailers in the caption and tag them in the photo.

4. Repost sale items in your “Stories” on Facebook and/or Instagram

Many times, you can share a post to your “Stories” on social media, helping to promote a product, an ongoing sale or promo code, a meaningful message, or pretty picture. Businesses appreciate reaching a wider audience and you are passing along something of value to your online community as well.

Let businesses know if you have a need, or a desire for a product that you don’t see on their site. Small businesses exist to serve their customers, so we love getting DMs, e-mails, phone calls, and snail mail correspondence from you! Many times, flavors or products can be special ordered or created just for you, so don’t hesitate to ask. Your request might become the new most popular item!

Most importantly, we just want everyone to stay safe. Don’t forget that if you do have some of our fresh pecans on hand, to refrigerate them and maximize their longevity (read more about that here). Or, eat them quickly and let us know when you need to reorder. We are going to continue serving our community as long as we are able and look forward to post-social distancing, whenever that may be. Until then, wash those hands, stay 6-feet apart, and know we are giving you a virtual hug right now!
