More Than Just a Holiday Nut
April 16, 2019
There’s quite a bit of commotion in our warehouse right now because our pecans are dusting off their dancing shoes and pulling out their party hats. It’s National Pecan Month and we intend to celebrate all month long. The Original Supernut™ in the United States, pecans have been categorized primarily as a holiday delectable for far too long. This nutrient-dense nut deserves recognition year-round, so we hope the month of April will help spotlight the versatility of pecans and secure their place in your diet on a more regular basis.
Here are just a few reasons you should consider incorporating more pecans into your diet:
- 30g of pecans (1 serving) contains 25% more oleic acid than one tablespoon of olive oil.
- Pecans contain the highest level of antioxidants of any tree nut and are the only nut ranked in the top 20 antioxidant-rich food list.
- Raw pecans contain no sodium, cholesterol, or gluten.
- A one-ounce serving of pecans contains less carbohydrates and more dietary fiber than other nuts.
Information based upon data from uspecans.com. Of course, nuts are best incorporated in moderation when reviewing your daily food intake. Consult with a medical professional if you have questions about your dietary needs.
We hope you will join the festivities this month by claiming some pecans as your own! Throughout the month of April, we are offering

Some recipes will call for you to roast the pecans with both butter and sugar first – sugar is going to be added at some point during the ice cream making process, but the foundation is based upon the butter roasting step. Don’t forget that pure vanilla extract adds a bit of sweetness to any dish as well.
